“Grab every opportunity that presents itself”
Raquel Cordova , better known as Raq-C, originates from Riverside, CA. Her radio career began in 2000 at U-92.7 in Palm Springs as the morning show co-host. Shorty after, Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) offered her an on-air position with the regional Mexican station, La Ley 107.9 in Chicago. Her successful run in Chicago allowed her to master the art of radio, as well as fine-tune her second language, Spanish.
When learning that a station in Los Angeles was being restructured to a bilingual format, she took the risk and left Chicago determined to become a permanent voice in Los Angeles. It paid off. Raq-C enjoyed a successful 8-year run as a top personality for Latino 96.3fm.
Her genuine connection to people allowed her to extend her career to different areas of entertainment: radio, T.V. (where she starred on the 2011 Mun2 reality show, “Jenni Rivera Presents: Chiquis and Raq-C.”), red carpet coverage, and now the latest celebrity blogger on Latina.com. Raq-C has also begun writing her first book that will no doubt become a best seller.
Raq-C credits her free spirit as her inspiration to grab every opportunity that presents itself. She see’s radio as an outlet to express her love, happiness, and ambitions with the masses. Her passions include music, representing Latino culture in a positive light, and sharing her success to motivate others. Embracing the influence she has on others along with her spirit of giving, Raq-C founded Amigas4MySoul, a non-profit organization established to promote unity and empowerment among women.
Raq-C is currently entertaining Los Angelino’s on their afternoon drive home with EXITOS 93.9FM. One thing is certain, this girl works hard to play hard! Try and keep up…because where Raq-C is concerned, you never know what’s next.
“There comes a time in your life when you have to take a chance and try something new”
Ignacio Sandoval, aka “Nachin”, was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. Like many families who wanted a better life for their children, his parents migrated to the United States when he was young. Raised in Boyle Heights, Nachin came from humble beginnings. He knew the only way to make it and help his family was through hard work, dedication and an education. The youngest of 8, he was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning B.A. degrees in both Theatre & Spanish Literature.
But while in college, Nachin discovered his true calling. He landed an internship with on-air personality “El Cucuy”, who admired Nachin’s perseverance and ultimate love for radio. Just to get to the station every day, he had to get creative in raising money for gas. But he never missed a shift.
Rather than pursue a Masters Degree, he took a chance and followed his true passion. It wasn’t long before he proved his talents as a radio host and intellectual producer at KSCA. His love for music, honest connection with people, and pride in his culture allowed him to influence and motivate an audience. He not only achieved impressive shares, but became one of the first bilingual DJ’s in the United States.
Despite such accomplishments, Nachin’s core values are still rooted in family and the empowerment of education. “I’m not just a radio personality, I care for my community and I want to help others achieve their own dreams.” His key initiatives are to increase awareness of education and reinforce positive choices, especially among young Latinos. He regularly speaks at local high schools and colleges encouraging higher education.
When the opportunity came for Nachin to join forces with his co-host Raq-C, he didn’t hesitate. They shared a genuine passion of showcasing the Hispanic culture in a positive light and he knew LA Hispanics would identify with them.
Today, in their new venture with EXITOS 93.9FM, the dynamic duo will continue to share their love for Hispanics and Los Angeles every afternoon.
